Twisted Sista Curl Activator

0 Readers Point
I tried out this product from urban therapy, yes I know it has cone in it but I thought maybe my hair would like it. Since am looking for a cheaper alternative instead of paying 40+ for one jar of a decent curl product here in Toronto.

I bought this for 6.00 flat and had my expectation high only to be bumped at the end. The curl activator didn't work on my naturally curly hair. It however added shine. Later this week I will pay the entire line of twisted curls and see if it works any better then it did today.

So for today my rate for this product would be 2/10

Africa's Best Growth Lotion

0 Readers Point

Today I discovered that my goodie moisturizer has to go to the dust bin or maybe I'll pass this to one of my friends.

This lotion has two type of cones in it *Ouch* so it doesn't do my curls any good. I almost finished the bottle but now I understand how whenever I wore this lotion, my hair would curl less and won't even moister my hair!

Lesson learned: Not all products that are titled "Organic" have organic ingredient

My hair is beautiful the way it is..

0 Readers Point

Yesterday I gave away all of my hair conditioners since they had cone in them. Now that am back to my natural hair, I avoid all products that contain cones happily and gracefully too.

You know what did this whole natural hair turned me into? I became an aware woman, I'm aware of ingredients that harm my hair, aware of what my hair likes and dislikes and aware of my whole uniqueness of being.

The hair that comes out of my own head, not altered nor touched chemically. To some, my hair might look like a mess and to others it might invoke envy feelings but overall am happy for I have accepted the way I am NATURALLY.

My nappy* head is beautiful, yes at times I too have bad hair day and there are other times when I myself wish if I had long straight hair. You see now my hair is short (after my bigchop) and curly or maybe even wavy I don't know (many types in one head). But I love it and I look at it in the mirror and wonder why my mother said my kinky hair was not manageable. Why she said going back to natural hair was not doing me good.

I mean look at my hair, isn't it beautiful, I totally believe its so pretty. I'm so pretty the way I am, yes Nature, the way you made me.

Wild growth oil

I bought this oil last weekend and so far used it twice, to be honest I don't know why I bought it! I had other products to buy.

Anyways when I saw the bottle I remembered visiting their website long ago which I didn't like but I had to find out myself if this oil works or not?

I'm so aware of no such thing as quick results, I mean if you want longer hair quick and fast then you might as well get a weave or clip-on extensions so am not depending on this oil for my growth. My hair is already growing fine maybe not as fast as I want to but oh well.

The smell of this oil reminds me of vicks, its thick and on the directions it says to count the drops you'll add on your hair. But you all know am bad with fallowing directions so I just add few drops directly to my scalp then massage it and leave it over night.

Now a lot of ladies were complaining about the smell, so I thought it would bother me but I don't mind vicks smell *laughs* and beside I add my parachute oil to tame the smell done a bit.

Is this oil Worth it?
Mmm I don't know really, mind you I don't want my hair texture to change (Their website claims that it will!) so I might have to change and get their light oil moisturizer instead. For now I will use this oil and add it to my hair regimen, stay tuned and we will see how if its worth it or not.

Treatment for dry hair:

Dry hair suffers from lack of moisture and essential fatty acids. There are many causes and reasons as to why the hair tends to be dry. Some of these reasons are due to damage, wither this damage is environmental, chemical or heat damage. Dry hair tends to look dull, frizzy, hard to comb and suffers from split ends beside breakage.

If your hair is suffering from any of these symptoms, then use one of these recipes to repair your locks.
  • Get one avocado, peel it off and smash it with a spoon or you can use a blender too. After your co-wash or poo, add the avocado mixture to your hair and leave it for 15 minutes or even 20. Rinse it off with cool water, dry your hair and style as usual.

  • Get one cucumber (if your hair is thick then use two) use a blender to create a creamy mix, add this mix to your hair for 15minutes and rinse with water.

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil treatment leaves your thirty hair feeling moisturized and full, get a two tbs of this oil and warm it up for few seconds (in microwave). Massage the warm oil in your scalp, keep on massaging well. Cover your hair with a hair cap and wait for 30minutes. Then rinse if off with cool water.

Treatments and tips for oily hair:

Oily hair tends to get dirty quick and most probably itchy too. Oily hair is common in soft hair textures whereas coarse hair tends to be dry by nature. There are many reasons why hair tends to be oily. These reasons range from heredity to hormonal fluctuation. Oily hair shouldn't be a major problem, remember oil protects hair shaft from harsh environment.

You can use these home remedy treatments to cure oily hair:

  • Get 2 carrots (depending on thickness of hair) and use a blender to create a carrot paste, leave it on your hair after shampooing it. Leave this paste on for 15mintues and rinse well with cool water.

  • Use Apple Cider Vinegar as a hair rinse after each poo or co-wash.

  • Get 2 tbs lemon juice - mix it with 1 litter of water and use it as a hair rinse.

  • Wash your hair once to twice a week with any shampoo that's directed for oily hair.

  • Avoid adding lots of oil in your hair also reduce the amount of oil in any hair recipes you use.

Almond oil softens and moisture dry irritated skin, it also tighten it and delays aging process. Meaning your skin will look younger, honest you won't need anti aging skin products if you use almond oil instead. And you don't even need to worry about your dark circles because almond oil will lighten it. Other benefits of this oil is curing muscle pain, itchiness, chopped lips, improves complexion and retains glow.

Also hair benefits from this oil, it is proven that almond oil smooths hair cuticles and helps in growing hair plus thickens the hair.

Almond oil is cheap and it's natural and best of all its available to all. So how can you use this oil, well first of all make sure you get a pure natural almond oil. Try finding it in your local grocery store.

For hair:

* Pre-Poo: apply a generous amount of almond oil before you shampoo your hair, you can leave it in your hair overnight and then shampoo your hair in the morning.

* HOT: Use almond oil as a hot oil treatment, warm some almond oil in the microwave using a mug or plastic container. Test the oil temperature with your finger, if it burns then let it cool for a while. Get an empty color applicator bottle (check image at the side) and pour the oil inside it. Apply the oil to your scalp and massage it for few minutes. Wear a shower cap on or a heating cap. Wash off your hair after an hour or overnight.

* Sealing: To seal mouister in your hair apply almond oil to the ends of your hair after your hair wash.

For Skin:

* Face: Apply few drops of almond oil to your skin before bed and massage it in circler motoin. You can also use it after your morning face wash and under makeup too. NOTE: if you find your face is oily then it means you've used too much oil, just use less next time.

* Lips: for chopped lips or just to smoothen your lips, add a drop of oil in your finger and massage through your lips.

* Body: Massage your whole body with almond oil for a sexy glow before outing or just if you want to feel sexy. I mix almond oil with my daily body cream for extra shine and moisture. You can also polish your body with this oil at the sauna for silk feel and ever beautiful skin.

Fat burner tea

0 Readers Point
I took some pics of the fat burner recipe that I've posted for Old Schl flat belly challenge on LHCF, the quality of these photos are not the best since my camera is broken (sorry girls) .. I'm not even sure when can I get a new camera but till then I hope these pic's help.

4Lemon sliced with the skin on

30 small garlic

so here's the lemon and garlic inside the pot

I added cumin seeds, its not one of the ingredients of this recipe
but I wanted to use it b/c cumin is known for its gas release power =)

I added 6 glass of water and started boiling

I add parsley at the final boil, then I strained the herbal tea into
a container and stored it in the fridge.

I drink this mixture three times a day before or sometimes after a meal, glad to say there is no taste of garlic at all just remember I didn't slice the garlic or even cut them.

Q: What does this tea do?
A: It helps aiding fat burn in your body and also if used before a meal, it controls/reduces your apatite.

Q: How long will I get to see a result in my weight if I use this tea?
A: three to four weeks =)

Q: Is this tea healthy?
A: Yes, you will be using nothing but natural vegetable, herbs and spice.

p.s:
I have also added a two chunks of ginger into the tea, forgot to take a pic "Sorry!"

This is how ginger looks like ..

Hair tea rinse

4 Readers Point
Part of me going natural with my hair is using a lot of natural herbs, oils and products. Recently I've learned about the benefit of caffeine on hair growth and how it can be used as growth stimulator.

Since tea has a high rate of caffeine, I've decided to add tea rinse to my hair rituals and I'm enjoying it alot.

I've already stopped using shampoo and instead I use my herbal wash which I will post on some other day.

Now, with my tea I use it as a final rinse for my hair, then I style as usual or just tie my hair in a pony.

To prepare I get any tea bags I have; I love green tea, red tea and peppermint tea. I just mix and match. Sometimes I add parsley as its known widely in the Arab culture for its rich moisture trait.

Here I've added parsley leaves, green tea and red tea bags.

I boil my tea mixture till the water changes color. Then I put it in a jar

Pour it and wait for it to cool down or
sometime I add cold water/ice to make it cool down faster

After my hair wash, I pour the tea into my hair as final rinse :)

Other Tips:

  • If you are suffering from hair loss then add cloves to the tea water and let it boil with the tea. Cloves will help stop your hair loss.

  • If you want thick hair or head full of hair then use tea rinse with every hair wash you get.

  • for extra shine and moisture, add two/three drops of olive oil to your tea mixture.

  • Yes you can use any hair products after your tea rinse.
